How to use your Glue
Glue Useage:
Dipping your lash extension into the middle of the glue is the freshest part of the glue ( as pictured below). This is because it is not exposed to the air. (air causes the glue to dry (polymerize), making it less sticky or likely to hold on to the lash.
When lashing to have optimal retention we need to pick up the correct amount of glue. Too little and the lashes won’t stick well and will not last weeks on the client. Too much and the lash line can become thick , and you can risk sticking lashes together (the thicker the glue the longer it may take to dry).
When Lashing we want to dip the extension into the glue approx 1/2 way to 3/4. Doing this creates a strong bond on the natural lash as there is a larger surface bonding area. If you only dip the extension in the glue 1/4 your only allowing a small bonding surface area and the lash will not last as long on the natural lash.
When we dip the extension in and out of the glue there is a certain way to do this which is explained in the video demonstration. We want to be able to get the perfect amount of glue on the extension, this requires a specific speed.
Handy Hint:
When your glue is placed on the jade stone, and you place either your tape or the jade stone cover on, we do this not only to protect the jade stone from the glue drying on it, but also to keep the glue fresh (jade stone is cool which keeps the glue fresher, your glue will take longer to dry up also! Another Tip make sure your glue stays in a little dome shape (pictured below) or little half ball, this will also keep it fresher for longer. If you let the glue spread out flat, it allows the air/moisture to touch majority of the service area which will cause it to dry out extremely quick and you’ll find yourself having to change your glue drop more frequently, or you’ll potentially be lashing with half dried glue which can lead to poor retention on your clients (lashes falling out after a few days!).
This picture demonstrates how the glue should not look. The right picture the glue is no longer working to its best capacity. It has started the drying process while on the jade stone and if you use glue like this on your client, there extensions will fall off quickly as the sticking power is now very low. This is why it is important to change your glue drop every 20 or so minutes, before this happens. This will ensure fresh strong glue is being used on your client giving them the best chance of lasting 3/4 weeks.
