How often do lashes need to be filled
How often do I need to have my eyelash extensions refilled?
This greatly Depends on your natural lash cycle and how well you care for your eyelash extensions but it is usually recommended that you return for a refill session every 2-3 weeks to maintain the fullness and natural look of your lashes.
Clients should remove all traces of mascara from the lashes ( if any!) before their refill. It can of course be removed during the appointment but this is time consuming and eats into and will affect treatment time.
Encouraging your clients to shampoo/cleanse their lashes before their appointment will ensure clean lashes which equals MORE LASH TIME!
We can do an amazing job in the salon, but ultimately what the client does with them one they leave the salon will determine how well they last.
Factors that contribute to lashes falling out prematurely.
-Oily Skin (oily can skin can lead to PH level imbalance) oil breaks down the lash glue, which can cause lashes to fall out early.
-Clients wearing make up can contribute to the lashes falling out early. This can be from rubbing to take it off and pulling out lashes accidentally, to make ups containing oils.
– Sleeping on your face , its a huge cause in early lash loss. Friction on the pillow case, lashes can catch on the pillow case and be pulled out. And generally it makes the lashes go in all sorts of directions and they appear messy.
-Not Cleansing with a Lash Cleanser. Will cause a build up of oils, dirts leading to lashes falling out. Keep them clean for longer lasting Lashes! (I hear so many clients are scared to wash them because they think it will make more fall out, when infact its the opposite! (its normal to loose a couple washing them, it just means those lashes were ready to come out on there own!
-Hormones, stress, malnutrition and some medication can also affect the way lashes last.
Clients should be expected to come back with 40-60% of there lashes left on at a refill. Anything less then 40% and it is advised to charge extra to cover your time and product costs. Anything less then 30% is a full set.
Some clients can need a full set after 3 weeks, some 4, some 5. It varies from person to person and how they look after them individually. We suggest a full set price be charged at anything over 4 weeks, but encourage you to use your discretion.

This picture shows the growth of an extension on a classic lash, you can see at 3 weeks it has grow. Dramatically. When they have grown this long , I’f they are not removed before the beginning of a refill your set will look messy , and the NL can become damaged with the weight of the grown out extension.
